Short walking routines

The Block Loop

Walk one slow lap around the block. Notice five things you can see and three you can hear.

Mini Park Visit

Pick a nearby green spot. Sit or stand for two minutes and simply look around.

Outdoor Stairs

Find a set of outdoor stairs and walk up and down them slowly two or three times.

Breathing pauses

Box breathing

  • Breathe in slowly for a count of four.
  • Hold gently for a count of four.
  • Breathe out slowly for a count of four.
  • Hold gently for a count of four. Repeat four times.

Sky-gazing breath

  • Look up toward the sky or treetops.
  • Take five slow, easy breaths.
  • Let your shoulders drop a little with each exhale.

Find a window or doorway. Look at the farthest point you can see for one slow minute.
